My Hometown-Vizag

Hi friends….,this is K.L.Gayathri ,at present I’m a student in IIT ROPAR doing B.Tech in mechanical engineering .I was born in anakapalli which is the place where my maternal grandparents lived. My home town is Visakhapatnam also known as vizag, it’s a well developed city and also you’ll get a vivid picture of nature. Our house, situated very near to the beach (of Bay of Bengal), it is the place where I had numerous funny and memorable moments with my family. I’ve been joined in a school by the name “Fort Catholic Girl’s High School” which follows ICSE syllabus. I’ve done my 10th from there.
After my 10th I was enjoying my summer holidays, then, I was made to realize that this is the time to make a decision as to which field I had to enter. My mom is a biology teacher but she never enforced me to take BiPC and become a doctor, my parents left the decision to me. I’ve choosed to become an engineer and  to make an attempt for IITJEE entrance exam. My parents supported me and my mom was happy, though she never told me what she wished from me but she always wanted me to be an engineer as she was forced to do BiPC because of circumstances though she was interested in mathematics. I joined the coaching centre Narayana. The next two years was a bit hard-time since I was seriously preparing for JEE.
The day of JEE results arrived and I made it. In filling my preferences I was a bit influenced by my parents, they suggested me to fill it in the order as the trend goes. I’ve done it that way for making them happy but they never restricted me where to apply. Finally I got a seat in IIT ROPAR in electrical engineering, I was a bit sad because I was praying god to get a seat in mechanical but I was happy. I’m happy that my parents sent me here though many people suggested them saying why to send a girl so far let her study in some local college itself.
Now I entered the IIT it’s the 1st time I was away from my family, I’ve never imagined that it would be difficult but I am happy here because of my friends and knowing that my happiness will make my parents happy. The 1st year I spent happily but was in a dilemma of what I really wanted. I’ve got to know that we can change our branch at the end of 1st year, that made me think about my choices and I always felt that I made a wrong decision before and now I have a chance to get it right. Finally I made a decision that I will go with my interest and change my branch to mechanical, I know my parents feel that mechanical is not suitable for girl’s career but I also know that they will support if it’s what I wish to be.
About future, I’m ambiguous but most probably I’ll do M.Tech.
